Note from the Owner

Hi, my name is Barbara. I would like to take a few moments and share my story with you!

I was an elementary school teacher for 34 years. I loved and still love teaching. It has always been my calling! However, 34 years is a long time to work with 5 - 8 year olds.. As I was planning for retirement, I began thinking of what I would like to do with the rest of my life. You see, I am not a sit around and do nothing kind of person.

I remembered a quote from Mark Twain, he said, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

So, I started thinking about my passions: helping and encouraging people, writing, photography, traveling, and big dogs. (yes I have a 125 lb dog named Kodiak!)

I decided to build a community which I eventually decided to turn into a business. A place where people could experience Renewal, Inspiration, Skills, Encouragement, Networking, and Growth. (R.I.S.E. n. g.)

Next, I decided that in order to build a business, I was going to have to learn some new skills since nearly all of my training and experience had been in the education field. After learning and refining some skills in Freelance Marketing, I resolved myself to turn my passions into profit.

For several years, I documented memories from some of my travel adventures in an informal travel blog for family and friends. This included some of my writings and photographs. Planning these adventures and documenting them through photography and in my blog was something that I enjoyed immensely and became passionate about.

Finally, I decided to turn these “passions into profits.” This is how “Travel Savvy Deals by RISEng” was born.

Subsequently, I decided to further my passion for helping people by sharing the steps that helped me start my business and “teach” them how to turn their own passions into profits.
